A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Thursday, November 30, 2023, in Chelsea, Shelby County, when an emergency call to Shelby County 911 reported a harrowing animal attack involving an infant at a residence on County Road 440. The response was swift, with Shelby County deputies, Chelsea firefighters, and Shelby County Animal Control Officers rushing to the scene.

Tragically, despite immediate medical attention, the infant was transported to an area hospital under law enforcement escort, where they were pronounced deceased. The injuries sustained were believed to have been inflicted by an animal, specifically described as a wolf-hybrid that was reportedly kept as a pet by the family of the infant.
